I’m a design leader who builds the systems, teams, and processes that let good work happen at scale.

For 15+ years I've led design across complex digital products, enterprise SaaS, and regulated industries, from logic-driven UX and content architecture to design systems, team development, and cross-functional leadership. I'm at my best in environments where the problem is still being defined, the design function needs guidance through transition, and the stakes are real.

Based in Chicagoland. Open to hybrid and remote roles.

Hi, I’m Betsy.

My Approach

The best design work happens inside clear constraints: defined processes, shared systems, and agreed-upon ways of working. I build this environment deliberately, so teams can spend their energy solving problems instead of reinventing the wheel.

Discovery is the design

Before I touch Figma, I want to understand our users, what they actually need, and what success means to the business. I run discovery with clients and stakeholders, synthesize what I find, and validate before building. The question logic and user pathing work I do at this stage usually shapes everything that follows.

Engineering is a partner

Some of the best design decisions I've made came out of early conversations with engineering. I work closely with technical teams to understand what's possible, find creative solutions to complex logic problems, and build shared ownership of the product we're making together.

Develop people, not just products

Leading a team means creating the conditions for everyone to do their best work. Several designers I've managed have grown into senior roles. That's the work I'm most proud of.

Outcomes from every angle

Deliverables are a means to an end. I measure success by what users can do, understand, or feel after interacting with something we built, not by how polished the Figma file is.
